Size it for this house
A bigger unit does not dry a Port St. Lucie house better. Too much capacity short-cycles and leaves the air clammy. We match the load, the ducts, and the rooms you actually use.

When this is an install, not a swap
An addition in Tradition, a closed-in porch in Lakewood Park, a garage apartment on the east side of Port St. Lucie, or a remodel that splits one system into two. Those are installs. The ducts, the drain, the electrical, and the permit path are designed for the new space rather than reused from a dead unit.
We size from the space that exists now: glass, ceiling height, west sun, insulation, and how many people use the room. Copying a neighbor’s tonnage is how Treasure Coast rooms end up cold and clammy.

Ducted system or mini-split
Extending ducts from an existing system to a new room can work when that system has spare capacity and a short, clean path to the space. More often, the existing system is already working hard, and adding a room leaves both the old and new areas uncomfortable.
A ductless mini-split gives the new space its own cooling and dehumidifying without touching the main system. A separate ducted system makes sense for a larger addition or a second floor. We explain which fits your space and why, and the mini-splits page covers ductless options in more detail.
What this climate adds to a new system
Near the Fort Pierce waterfront or the Intracoastal, the outdoor unit needs a coil and cabinet that can live with salt air. Inland Port St. Lucie, Tradition, and Verano homes usually fight attic heat, duct length, and humidity more than marine spray.
Moisture removal matters as much as temperature. An oversized system cools a room quickly and shuts off before it dries the air, leaving it cold and damp. Correct sizing and a properly routed condensate drain are part of every install.
The electrical side of a new install
Every new system needs a dedicated circuit, a disconnect, and a breaker sized to the equipment nameplate. Before we quote an install, we check whether the panel has the capacity. If it does not, we say whether a new circuit, a subpanel, or a panel upgrade belongs on the estimate.
City of Port St. Lucie, City of Fort Pierce, and St. Lucie County permits apply when the job requires them. We confirm which office matches the address instead of waving at permits in general.

Is a new heat pump an installation or a replacement?
If we are removing a full system and setting another in its place, that is a replacement. If the space never had equipment, or the renovation needs a new zone, that is an installation.
Can I just add a duct from my existing system to the new room?
Sometimes, if the existing system has spare capacity and the path is short. Often a mini-split or separate system works better. We check before recommending either.
Will my panel support a new AC system?
We check the panel during the estimate. If it cannot carry the new equipment, we include the electrical work in the scope so there are no surprises on install day.
